# WSEM could not connect to the Wowza Steaming Engine (http://localhost:8087)

Wowza Streaming Engine Manager could not connect to the Wowza Steaming Engine ([http://localhost:8087](http://localhost:8087)). Verify that the Wowza Streaming Engine service has started and is running. ???😕

I upgrade to Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0.1 and update new license. I uninstall old version Wowza Media Server 3.6.3. What happen the error message?

I am sure to use the new license. Any suggest？

Is the Wowza manager service turned off? See if that is the case.

I have this problem too, don’t know how to fix, surely both streaming engine and streaming engine manager is running
