Hello Wowza Community!

Todays VoC update focuses on WebRTC, LL-HLS and HLS benchmarks associated to WSE v4.12.

Every stage of a live workflow adds latency, from encoding and segment packaging to CDN caching and player buffering. Brian Ellis; Wowza’s Manager of Pre-Sales Engineering updated guide shows where that latency comes from and how much each protocol adds. The range runs from under 500 milliseconds with WebRTC to 30 seconds or more with standard HLS.
The guide covers:

- Typical glass-to-glass latency for HLS, LL-HLS, RTSP, SRT, WebRTC, and MoQ
- New benchmark results showing Wowza Streaming Engine 4.12 adds only 130 ms to WebRTC streams in its default configuration, before network transit
- Why HLS latency runs about three times the segment duration, and how keyframe intervals set the floor
- WebRTC transport and NACK/RTX loss recovery settings that trade latency against stability
- How traffic management centers deliver WebRTC to operators and HLS to the public from the same camera feed
