Hi all.

I used the instructions at [http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/live-streaming-wowza.html](http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/live-streaming-wowza.html) (also shown in Chris K’s Amazon talk) to set up a stack including EC2, Wowza and Cloudfront.

My question is – where is the multi-bitrate encoding for all the quality levels for HLS/HDS/SS taking place? I logged into that server instance and could only see \<5% CPU utilization. So i’m probably looking in the wrong place.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Multi-bitrate encoding (transcoding) would take place on the Wowza server, if enabled.

You would need the [Wowza Tranacoder AddOn](https://www.wowza.com/docs/wowza-transcoder) for this.
