# Wowza 4.0 - supporting old wowza installation

Using the default Test Player in local Wowza installation, I can play a video file using the url pointing to a remote instance of wowza. When I try to embed my own player in my own application, pointing to the same url, however, it doesn’t work. Can anyone provide any direction here?

Sounds like it is port related and using a public URL vs. a private URL.
Can you confirm your URL does not start with a local address like
1. 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (65,536 IP addresses)
2. 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (1,048,576 IP addresses)
3. 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (16,777,216 IP addresses)
