# Wirecast- cannot authenticate error -4023

Hello,

I am trying tostream using wirecast to the wowza server. When I try to start broadcast it gives me this error message.

“cannot authenticate with rtmp/flash server. please enter and/or verify your credentials. [-4023]”

What can I do to fix this? The server is running ok.

I am a newbie with this so bare with me.

Hi,

I answered a similar post on this topic yesterday. It has to do with incoming RTMP and RTSP authentication being turned on by default in Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0. More in this **[Forum Post](http://community.wowza.com/t/-/35504)**.
