# Unable to view RTSP in VLC Player

Hi,

I have been trying this…

I using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and also WOWZA system using this tutorial ([https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-set-up-live-streaming-using-an-rtmp-based-encoder](https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-set-up-live-streaming-using-an-rtmp-based-encoder)) both software installed on my laptop. Windows Firewalls are OFF.

I used VLC player i’m able to view the stream RTMP in the player but not RTSP.

I got this error from VLC. _“VLC is unable to open the MRL ‘rtsp://localhost:1935/live/myStream’. Check the log for details.”_

Anyone can advice? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Do you have RTSP/RTP output enabled in your Wowza application settings?

What are the video/audio codecs used in your encoder? Is the myStream output stream using a video/audio codec combination that is supported by RTSP?

Hi,

One thing I do see is you have VP6 as the video codec, that might be the problem. That will stream fine in RTMP Flash players, but not well if at all in others.

If you switch to encoding H.264 video in your encoder you will most likely have more success.

Hi,

The VP6 codec is not supported in RTSP streams.

Hi Zoran\_U,

For RTSP / RTP where can i set it? i only have incoming stream settings
