# udp transcoding

Hello,

I’m getting a udp stream pushed directly to my server from a provider.

I need to convert the stream into rtmp stream to broadcast it on my devices.

I can’t seem to get it to work.

I configured a stream file . udptest.stream

I clicked on connect to the stream and it says connected.

I went to the incoming stream tab and I have the following :

 udptest.stream ======\> udp://0.0.0.0:5768 Active

When I click on test player and select the rtmp player. It says playing but I have no image.

I have been told there is a possibility I might need to have the stream transcoded. I went to the transcoder section and set it up there but don’t know what to do next.

Can you please tell me what I need to do ?

How do I even test the udp stream on my server to ensure i’m even receiving it?

Wowza can ingest a UDP source and create a RTMP stream without VLC player or the transcoder. Please see the following article for ingesting the source using a .stream file.
