Streaming Live from the pre-recorded videos using Wowza media server

I have done all the changes that you asked me to do and the video is playing fine, but when i added the video file in the [install-dir]content folder and changed the video file name in the [install-dir]/content/streamschedule.smil,then its taking too long to play and infact it didn’t play at all.So please tell me the significance of scheduling the video files if they don’t play in time.

Richard, i don’t think that there is issue with the date/time format because earlier when i was doing this with the default video i.e sample.mp4 provided in the wowza i don’t see any issues but as i added a new video file of the same format(mp4) in the same folder where earlier sample.mp4 was present i am not able to stream live. So please suggest that why it is not working with the newly added video files.

Amit

Yes, the video is working fine as a vod stream in Wowza example Flash player.

Hi

I have restarted the wowza and again tested the playback of the scheduled stream in Wowza example player, but still the stream didn’t play .So i am sending you the /conf,/logs and schedule.smil file.

You can download the above files from here:

One more thing i want to ask that if i make the changes in the smil file while the video is playing live, then how and when the changes are going to be reflected.

Amit

ok, now its playing fine, but can you please tell me that if i make the changes in the smil file while the video is playing live, then how and when the changes are going to be reflected.

Amit

I have replaced the jar file from the wowza module collection and added the code in Application.xml but not bale to get the buttons and textinput below the the video display.

Amit

From the below link given by Richard:

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-control-stream-class-streams-dynamically-modulestreamcontrol

I have replaced the jar file from the wowza module collection and added the code in Application.xml but can anyone of you tell me that what i need to do with the StreamClassControl.zip folder as i am not able to get the buttons below the video display in the modified version of Wowza Live Player.

Please Suggest.

Amit

Richard

I have earlier mentioned also that after the changes and entering the URL , the video is playing fine but the buttons you are talking about in the link that has been given are not showing on the screen.

And Please tell me if i am mistaken coz i have just replaced the jar file and made changes in the application.xml but did nothing with the StreamClassControl.zip.

so do i need to do something more.if you need then i can send you the /conf and /logs folder also along with the schedule.smil file.

I am able to connect to a running stream, but not able to play a new item on the playlist not in the same stream which was running successfully to which i connected to and not with the new stream as well.

So you please tell me that when i add the stream and playlist then where do they get added as i am not seeing any changes in the schedule.smil file.

Amit

Richard as you say this tool affects running streams but in my case it is not even affecting the running streams and also if it doesn’t make any changes to the schedule.smil file then where does it make changes so that it affects the running stream.

please send me the link for 3 pages of questions and answers concerning this tool.

Could you please tell me that how the different numbers used in the start and length are used for.

And secondly, if we have a video file of about 45 minutes or more then would it will play fine on wowa or do we need to compress it.

Apart from what i have asked you above , please tell me that how can i schedule my videos in the schedule.smil file for a week such that if in a day a particular video is scheduled in a time range then it will only play in that interval.

Because now whats happening like if i schedule a video at 4 am and if i started the wowza server at 6 am also then the video plays…

So please suggest that how can i diferentiate between different videos based on the time interval ?

How can i set the end time of the video in the .smil file ?

Amit

Richard

please reply staright to my question , don’t give me the entire link to read through.

If a class (eg -video file) is schedule at suppose 5:00 am on stream1 for today and if we restart the Wowza media server and connect to the stream1 at 9:00 am , then still the video plays at the start up.So please tell me how can that be avoided so that the video once played at the scheduled time will not play again.

otherwise there would be no use of scheduling.

As in real time there would be many videos to be scheduled at different intervals.

# What is the Application.xml /StreamType?

stream type is set as live…

For playback i am using the stream name set in the schedule.

One more thing is there any restriction on the jumber of playlist that can be played on a stream as if i add more than two playlist on a single stream then i am not able to connect to the stream.

Please tell me that the length=50 or length=5 or some other numbers…what do they suggest ?

As i am really screwed up now with this…

Please download the /conf and /logs from the below link :

http://www.mediafire.com/?ks6hyiw3hfff2b1

Amit

Richard !

Maula.mp4 is inside the content folder.

You didn’t said anything on that is there any restriction on the number of playlist that can be played on a stream ?

Please reply to that how can i make a video to play only at scheduled time once, like if a video is scheduled at 5 am today and if i restart the wowza server at 7 am then the video should not play at all.

Richard please read carefully what i have written…

please see the below smil file…

Richard

I have already asked you to read carefully…

#, (By Richard )if you schedule a stream in the past it will start when Wowza start

(Me )but if there are multiple videos in the stream each of which is scheduled in the past then which one of them play first…???

In the Below Smil file, if i set the time to 1800 for p3 then after startup it plays first and also if i set the time to 1300 for p3 and restart the wowza then also it plays first .

Now please read slowly and try to understand what i am asking …

So thats why there is unpredictability because the time is not affecting it , it keeps on playing at first irrespective of the time…
