# StartupStreamsMonitor

In Wowza version 3, I could use something called “StartupStreamsMonitor” where when I added a stream file to a specific directory for an application, Wowza would start streaming it and when I deleted the file, Wowza would stop streaming it. How do I do this in Wowza version 4?

Hi there, I played around with this for a bit and you can still enable this ServerListener via the Server.xml file as before. Alternatively you can enable it through the UI.

I added the values too and it still doesn’t work. Here’s what I did:

1. Under Server, in the tab “Server Listeners”, I added: com.wowza.wms.serverlistener.ServerListenerStartupStreamsMonitor

2. Under Server, in the tab “Properties”, I added:

**Path** --\> **Name** --\> **Value**

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMonitorApplicationList --\> Customcams\_Class5

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMonitorStreamPrefix --\> mp4

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMediaCasterType–\> rtp

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMonitorExtensionFilter --\> .stream

1. Under the CustomCams\_Calss5 “Application”, I added under Properties:

**Path** --\> **Name** --\> **Value**

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMonitorStreamPrefix --\> mp4

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMediaCasterType–\> rtp

/Root/Server --\> startupStreamsMonitorExtensionFilter --\> .stream

/Root/Server --\> securityPublishRequirePassword --\> true

It still doesn’t work. What am I missing?

I spoke too soon. It’s working now. I guess I never restarted the server. Thanks for the help!
