# RTSP RECORD to record live stream

I have a custom-built application/device that is designed to push live streaming video over RTSP/RTP to a media server. The client cannot accept incoming connections, so setting up a .stream file with the RTSP/RTP URL of the device and having the Wowza server connect out to the device, like described on [https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-re-stream-video-from-an-ip-camera-rtsp-rtp-re-streaming#publish](https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-re-stream-video-from-an-ip-camera-rtsp-rtp-re-streaming#publish), is not an option.

Ideally, Wowza would accept an incoming RTSP RECORD request from the device. I don’t see any Wowza documentation that describes this as an option. Is it possible? Or can Wowza only get live streams by pulling from an RTSP/RTP URL?

Wowza supports RTSP announce, but there is not any documentation or examples for encoder development.

Is there any update on this? Does Wowza now support this?
