# RTSP Command Support

Greetings, I had read this post from 2009 [https://www.wowza.com/forums/showthread.php?4980-RTSP-Pause-support](https://www.wowza.com/forums/showthread.php?4980-RTSP-Pause-support)

I would like to know if Wowza 4.1.1 supports RTSP pause. If yes is it possible to apply it in live streaming? I mean sending this command through rtsp to the remote rtsp source ?

Hi,

I’m not aware of RTSP pause of the source being included as of yet. The nearest you may get is to set your StreamType in your application to rtp-live, or rtp-live-record. In this situation the source stream starts once a client views it, and it stops a short while after the last client has ended his viewing session. I’m not sure if this fits in with your plans. There may be examples of calls to RTSP sources within the [code section](https://www.wowza.com/docs/wowza-streaming-engine-java-api) of our tutorials, and so could be extended to implement a pause control.
