Hi. We are running a relay server with 16 GB of physical memory and 10000 MB of heap memory.

The version of Wowza is 4.7.1

The percentage of total memory continues to increase to over 90%, and the oom-killer eventually terminates the Wowza process.

Log is as follows.

WARN server comment 2017-11-03 00:40:35 - - - - - 25951.64 - - - - - - - - Unexpected exception.: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Direct buffer memory|at java.nio.Bits.reserveMemory(Bits.java:693)|at java.nio.DirectByteBuffer.(DirectByteBuffer.java:123)|at java.nio.ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(ByteBuffer.java:311)|at sun.nio.ch.Util.getTemporaryDirectBuffer(Util.java:174)|at sun.nio.ch.IOUtil.write(IOUtil.java:58)|

Out of memory error log is keep generating and terminated

Is there a solution?

Hello,

We suggest that you try updating to the latest version of Wowza Streaming Engine 4.7.2.02 and ensure this isn’t being caused by any custom code first.

If this issue continues, please try obtaining a heap dump on OOM using the method explained in the following article:

[How to create a Java Heap Dump on Wowza Streaming Engine](https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-create-a-java-heap-dump-on-wowza-media-server)

Then [create a ticket](https://www.wowza.com/support/open-ticket) with our Support Team referencing a download location for this heap information and including a zip of your conf/ and logs/ so we can analyze this further.

Best regards,

Andrew
