# Ndvr time shifting and recording

maybe i am missing something.

when i specify a start and end time everything is o’k. the issue as mentiond before is that i want to create a time shift module.

when i only spesify a start time without an end time it plays as live (not from the start that i specified but as the current time )and i can preform a rewind.

i want to specify a start time (without an end time) so that the stream will start from that time (for example 3 hours ago) so the user will watch alweys 3 hours back from the live stream.

can that be done? do i need to specify an end time and then update that end time as the recording continues? if so how?

if i don’t define an end time only a start time can it be done that the stream will not start from the live point

but rather from that time (the start time) without rewind

Hi Lisa

thank you for thw quick response.

i want to increse the length of my recordings (from 30 to 48 hours).

I understood that “it’s not so healthy” but the reason I am asking is becouse i want my clients to see only 2 or 3 hours from that stream (vod).

for me it will be more easy to use ndvr then the LiveStreamRecored.

so can it be done? will i have to change to window duration?

and will it “hurt” preformance working like that?
