# Live stream start up problem

Hello,

I has setup a Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0 for trial, after setup the live stream follow the information from this forum, I found a interesting problem.

In the beginning the live stream is not work, but after I try the record function (Application \> live \> incoming stream \> (record this stream), I can watch the live stream using VLC even I stop the record function.

After restart the Wowza, same problem again, I need to use the record function to make the live stream start.

Any idea what is wrong ?

If you are trying to record the live stream as well, there are a couple options:

Easiest would be to change the StreamType for the application from “live” to “live-record”

Hi Salvadore, Thanks for your infomation.

I am following the "How to publish and play a live stream (MPEG-TS based encoder) ", anyway, a server restart seems resolve the problem.
