😕

Hey all!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I created another forum post around mpeg-dash behavior a few days ago, but it’s no longer relevant as live playback only seems to work one player we were testing with ([http://www.dash-player.com](http://www.dash-player.com)) but it’s spotty at best. We can’t get live dash playback to work with ANY OTHER PLAYER.

Seeing as this isn’t widely reported, it’s safe to assume that it’s not an issue with Wowza, but perhaps something we’re doing wrong on our end?

- VOD playback works perfectly fine

- RTMP/HDS/HLS playback works as well

- Live MPEG-DASH streams never playback

- Tried multiple different encoders, with similar results

- Modifying/adding props for dash in the app config didn’t help, so we’re testing with default parameters

- Video is h264, audio is AAC

I would have to suggest opening a support ticket so the team can take a closer look.

Please follow this guide when opening a ticket, and send information to support@wowza.com

Hi,

One suggestion is the use of Google’s Dash player implementation, [Shaka Player,](https://github.com/google/shaka-player)

We’ve had relatively good results in our testing with it so far.

Hi,

Is the issue appear to be player dependent? Have you tried the [Shaka player](https://github.com/google/shaka-player) as described above?

Length of playlist shouldn’t be an issue. What can be an issue is if the files within the playlist are of different encoding. This can cause problems between transitions

where playback may not be smooth, or possibly might not work at all when moving to the next file.

hey Salvadore,

I’ll follow the instructions and send everything over. I also sent a few emails to support (we’re also paying premium support members) but have yet to receive a response. They were sent last week. I’ll shoot this over to support though, Salvadore. Thanks and appreciate the follow up!

Jup. Same issue.

MPEG DASH playback for the live stream published with ServerListenerStreamPublisher doesnt start.

however on application restart - one client is able to connect and playback.

VOD works.

i have a long smil file with many playlist(s) - might that be a problem ?
