# Is it possible to publish hls segments from a non-Wowza source (such as an encoder) to the Wowza Streaming Engine?

I am currently testing a demo encoder that is capable of outputting multiple streaming formats. I can push RTMP from this encoder to Wowza, but we really need to see if we can push/publish the ts segments created by the encoder’s hls segmenter to the Wowza then point a video player (such as VLC for testing) to Wowza to play the hls stream.

I saw a post from early last year where it said that this feature was in development, but I have not found anything more recent.

Hello,

You can set up an application that ingests content from a live source that provides a stream using an Apple HLS format that can be retrieved by Wowza Streaming Engine version 4.5.0.01 and later.
