# iOS with nDVR always starts from beginning of DVR stream!

So I have the latest version of iOS and Wowza, and now whenever I use an iOS device on a live stream with DVR, it often times starts at the beginning of the stream, and there is NO WAY to tune to LIVE programming. The forward/live button on iOS next to the play button is always greyed out.

I think I may have figured it out.

I found posts from 2013, and I had (incorrectly) assumed that this change was already included in newer versions.

You **must MANUALLY edit Applications.xml (WowzaInstallDir/conf/Applications.xml)**

Look for the

```auto
<Streams>

```

block. Within that code block will be

```auto
<LiveStreamPacketizers></LiveStreamPacketizers>

```

Now, change that to:

```auto
<LiveStreamPacketizers>cupertinostreamingpacketizer</LiveStreamPacketizers>

```

Now restart Wowza for good measure, wait about 20 minutes and try the stream on iOS.

Hi SETVproducer,

I don’t think that could have solved the problem. First, the file is Application.xml not Applications and its only a template file. The values here will be overridden by Application.xml in the Application folder so probably your Application.xml didn’t have that (did you enabled HLS or you did not wait long enough for the DVR to finish the window. I am really hoping I"m wrong because am also facing the same issue with v4.5 and pulling my hair off for the last two days and nights. It worked last time we did this but then it was different Wowza version.

Andy could you please confirm or correct my understanding for future reference?

Hi,

Unfortunately, we have seen issues with iOS devices not providing DVR functionality with live streams. We do have a ticket open with Apple in relation to this. You could look at using a player such as [JWPlayer](http://demo.jwplayer.com/stream-tester/). This should provide full DVR functionality on Safari (iOS/OS X) as well as PC browsers.
