# Instances and licenses

Licensing allows 10 transcoded channels per instance. If I contract 2 licenses, for 10 channels each, are the instances on separate servers, or can I keep more than 10 channels in 1 instance only with the licensing for 20 channels? Do I necessarily need to separate 10 instances per server?
