# In HLS protocol, safari paused if I do timeshift.

Hi,

In HLS protocol, safari could play both sample.mp4 and mytest.mp4 smoothly, but when I skip to any other time, the safari paused, I must replay the stream manually.

Do you think is a normal function of safari, or a bug in WowzaMediaServer-3.5?

Some pause is normal after seek in a HLS stream. How long a pause depends on chunk size. Chunk size depends on the stream’s key frame frequency and the cupertinoChunkDurationTarget setting. Take a look at this article for more details:
