Hi everyone,

I’m working on an app that uses MirrorFly Video Call API to support real-time one-to-one and group video conferencing across web and mobile platforms.

One of the requirements is to allow additional viewers to watch an ongoing group video conference without having to join the actual call.

I’m considering using Wowza Streaming Engine for the broadcasting part, but I’m trying to understand the best way to connect it with MirrorFly.

A few things I’d like to clarify:

1. **WebRTC Integration:** Can Wowza Streaming Engine receive a live video feed from an ongoing MirrorFly group video conference?
2. **Stream Publishing:** What would be the recommended approach to send the conference feed from MirrorFly to Wowza? Would RTMP or WHIP be suitable for this?
3. **Live Stream Distribution:** Once Wowza receives the feed, can it convert and distribute the stream through HLS so website visitors can watch it?
4. **Group Conference Broadcasting:** If multiple participants are part of a MirrorFly video call, how can their video feeds be combined into a single broadcast stream for viewers?
5. **Architecture:** Would this require a separate media server or an additional encoding component between MirrorFly and Wowza?

The goal is to use MirrorFly for interactive video conferencing and Wowza for distributing the conference as a live broadcast to a larger audience.

Has anyone worked on a similar integration between a third-party video calling SDK and Wowza Streaming Engine?

Any suggestions, implementation examples ?

Hi,

Thanks for posting your questions.

Here’s a quick overview:

1. **WebRTC Integration**
Wowza Streaming Engine can ingest WebRTC streams (including WHIP in version 4.11+). However, MirrorFly does not natively expose a clean stream output, so a direct connection is not straightforward.

2. **Stream Publishing**
The recommended approach is to capture or composite the conference and push a **single RTMP** stream to Wowza. WHIP is possible but more difficult with MirrorFly.

3. **HLS Distribution**
Yes. Once Wowza receives the stream, it can deliver it as HLS (and other protocols) so website visitors can watch.

4. **Combining Multiple Participants**
Wowza Streaming Engine does not have a built-in video mixer that can create a gallery/grid from multiple feeds. You will need an intermediate step (such as OBS, FFmpeg) to create one stream.

5. **Architecture**
MirrorFly (interactive calls) → Mixer/Compositor → RTMP → Wowza Streaming Engine → HLS to viewers.

**Bottom line:** Use MirrorFly for the interactive conference and Wowza for broadcasting to a larger audience. An intermediate mixing step is required to turn the group call into a single stream.
