# How to generate a IP based SSL Certificate??

Hi,

While generating a self-signed certificate, as mentioned in [Create a Self Signed Certificate](https://www.wowza.com/docs/How-to-create-a-self-signed-SSL-certificate), we can see that certificate is always tied to a **Domain Name,** my question is that is it possible to generate a Self Signed certificate tied to an **IP-Address** rather than Domain name?
