Hi Jeff. Working with closed captions in Wowza is OK. Everything works. In the past, we used this option with the satisfaction of our clients. But I decided to write something else here. In the subject. WSE has slightly fallen on the sidelines in relation to the video platform. Too bad. WSE - The ideal tool would be a module that creates automatic captions - converting audio to text. It is possible. A dozen or so months ago we exchanged correspondence with a programmer. It is doable. A month of work, or even less, and it’s done. The unfortunate cost for one project turned out to be too high. I think that a company like Wowza has the ability to create such a module, without a problem. Such a tool would allow for increasing sales of WSE licenses. Users would receive a great topic. - I have WSE - I have automatic captions - I can satisfy many new customers yes… I know… you can find something like that… but it is an external provider, such a solution does not fully satisfy us. We dream of WSE with complete automatic creation of closed captions. Regards. - sorry for my English ---

Hi Dorota, Thank you for the feedback! We are currently looking into some options for automated captioning, but it’s a bit more complex of a solution with our existing implementation. I’ll add this request to our feature from this end and make an announcement once we’re closer to timing this. Jeff ---

… “We are currently looking into some options for automated captioning” … and the competition is not sleeping, what do they need to do: " \* Set up live input and output as you normally do for your streams. - Enable AI speech-to-text processing for the designated streams. - Use a player which can present WebVTT subtitles in your website or app. - Deliver your content via HLS as usual." Wowza customers will soon start switching software vendors.. Can you wake up? ---

If anyone is interested: Raskenlund has a module for Wowza Streaming Engine that does automated captioning (subtitles) in CEA608/708 and WebVTT formats. It integrates with AWS Transcribe or Speechmatics (other providers on request) ---

Hi Jesse, you are absolutely right. The original event was captioned, but apparently the caption track got lost in the recording.
