# How can I trigger a stream to start when the stream's source starts ?

I want to re-distribute HLS streams originating with Akamai using a primary ‘origin’ WSE server and having ‘edge’ WSE servers to republish the stream. I have used stream files and startup streams on the ‘origin’ but it seems the startup is only triggered on a server restart and not when the originating stream becomes available.

It there a mechanism to monitor the source and trigger the connect ?

Our current Wowza workflow only supports the server restart @Fred Tomlinson. We will be sure to update you if this changes.
