# HLS segmentation with ts files starting with an iframe

Hi!

Is it possible to make Wowza create HLS segment files, from a multicast live stream, starting with an iframe. The reason is that we are using the Verimatrix player, and it cannot do ABR if the segments doesn’t start with an iframe.

Are you sure that is the case with that player? The usual requirement is that key frames are aligned. You can debug alignment:

There are ways to ensure that Wowza begins recording on a key frame, but I don’t think there is a way to start playback on a key frame except for switching where you can start on a previous key frame, but that does not exist at the beginning.
