# Decode H.265

Can Wowza input an H.265 stream and transcode to H.264? I was told it could, but haven’t been able to make it work and I don’t see an MPEG-DASH option in the Decoder. Any information or links would be appreciated. We have a choppy stream and thought that compressing to the server might be helpful.

Hello,

Wowza Streaming Engine will not ingest an MPEG-DASH stream. Check the [Live Streaming: Compatible Encoding Inputs](https://www.wowza.com/products/streaming-engine/specifications) section of the link for input options.

Once you ingest the h.265 via RTMP, RTSP/RTP or MPEG-TS you can then use [this article](https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-stream-using-hevc-h-265-transcoding) for information on re-streaming the stream.
