Hi all,

For a project of mine, I would like to know if there’s anything specific I should look for when searching for the right VR headset to pair with Wowza.
Are all the most known headsets such as Oculus or HTC Vive are compatible with Wowza? Can the Wowza stream services output the livestream directly to the headset?

Thanks in advance!

It appears that we don’t really have a list of supported headsets, but it comes down to what protocol is used for streaming to Wowza, typically RTMP. We have several blogs on the topic and it mentions several of the headsets, but almost of them should work if they are using the proper protocol.

While a few VR technologies use proprietary streaming technologies, most use industry-standard streaming protocols that are at the heart of [Wowza Streaming Engine](https://www.wowza.com/products/streaming-engine) and [Wowza Streaming Cloud](https://www.wowza.com/products/streaming-cloud). The dozens of 360-degree cameras and video-stitching applications available can output a standard H.264 video stream over the RTSP or RTMP protocol. A few examples include [GIROPTIC](http://giroptic.com/), [360fly](https://360fly.com/), and [VideoStitch Vahana VR.](http://www.video-stitch.com/intelvideostitch-vr-video/) Wowza Streaming Engine and Wowza Streaming Cloud can then take that one HD stream and transrate it into multiple bitrate renditions for [adaptive streaming delivery to any screen](https://www.wowza.com/products/capabilities/live-transcoding), regardless of device resolution or local bandwidth. Playback is achieved using player apps from companies such as [krpano](http://krpano.com/), [Finwe](http://www.finwe.mobi/main/360-degree/), [Oculus](http://www.oculus.com/), and [Google](https://www.google.com/get/cardboard/).
