Hi,

If you’re wanting to play a live stream but the publisher can’t specify an application name, you can create an application called “_defapp_” which means when an application isn’t specified it will try to use this application.

You can test this by creating a video on demand application called “_defapp_” and view sample.mp4 with the following URL in VLC player.

```auto
rtsp://[Wowza-IP-Address]:1935/mp4:sample.mp4

```
