# Can I write extensions to Wowza Streaming Engine trial version?

I’m evaluating the ability to extend the Streaming Engine with modules to control streaming, inject metadata, etc. Instructions for extending the Streaming Engine appear here:

When adding a project module to an application the instructions say “…click on the application you want to add the module to [and] Click the Modules tab…”. But I do not see a “modules” tab. Is this something that is restricted in the trial license?

Hi,
You are just running into a user permissions restriction in the Manager UI.
Follow [these instructions](https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-get-started-as-a-wowza-streaming-engine-manager-administrator#enableAdvanced) to add the permission to your user in the manager.
So you just need to enable “Allow access to advanced properties and features”.
