# AV1 support with WebRTC

I was wondering if AV1 codec with WebRTC will be available for testing soon ?

Hi Daniel,

I’m not aware of any immediate plans to support this codec, however, But we already have this in our backlog as a feature request. Features that are added to our backlog are reviewed and considered for future versions of the Wowza Streaming Engine software.  
At this time I can’t confirm if the feature will be approved and if so, any time-scales for its availability.

Hello Team,

If we see the direction clearly, streaming software will be able to produce AV1. You can currently receive YouTube.

Is it expected that Wowza AV1 reception will be installed in 2024?
