# 608 captions and WebRTC

There is a requirement to replicate 608 captions in HLS for WebRTC.

Is there a way to parse 608 captions and onTextData and send over a data channel ? This way all clients can receive the captions somehow.

Hello @Daniel Rossi,

Are you looking to have captions in the WebRTC stream?

If so, then at this time it is not possible to inject captions into a WebRTC stream.

The general info about caption options in Wowza Engine are outlined in the [following article](https://www.wowza.com/docs/closed-captioning).

Never mind . WebRTC ended up being unicast , making the whole peering exercise pointless. Client chose Ramp instead. They need Dash live captions still though. Been asking years for this.
